Cloth masks are a product Disposable rich in active principles, composed of a sheet of natural fabric (such as cotton or cellulose) or synthetic, soaked in whey. Taking advantage of the popularity of the k-beauty routine, in recent years they have achieved great success, going so far as to dethrone the very popular cream or gel masks. What are the reasons for the success of fabric masks, also called sheet mask or fabric mask? First of all the practicality, because we can also take them on the road to offer an immediate hug, perhaps after a plane flight. Then, they are very rich in active ingredients, a real concentrate of beauty. Finally, thanks to the patch effect of the fabric, they are effective immediately: makes the skin immediately more beautiful, smooth and radiant.

Just like gel or cream masks, even sheet masks differ in the function they perform and the type of skin they are intended for. Let’s see the main types.

  • Purifying Sheet Masks, ideal for oily or combination skin. They may contain ingredients such as charcoal or clay, cucumber and aloe vera to soothe and quench thirst. Lavender, burdock or rosemary extracts are also very useful, astringent but delicate on the skin.
  • Cloth masks moisturizers, suitable for normal to dry, or very dry and dehydrated skin. It is important that they contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, algae extracts, aloe vera, but also thermal water and glycerin.
  • Nourishing or anti-aging sheet masks, perfect for mature skin or those who want to fight against the first signs of aging. Preference should go to ingredients such as mango, moringa, shea butters and oils, but also argan, rosehip and coconut, for their intensely nourishing action. Also very valid are fabric masks with retinoids (less aggressive than retinol), collagen, vegetable squalane and hyaluronic acid.
  • Illuminating fabric masks, Suitable for all types of skin. They may contain ingredients such as vitamin C and licorice extract with a skin-brightening and energizing effect, or glycolic acid, with an anti-blemish effect. For acne redness, a valid ally is azelaic acid, with its decongestant action.
  • Soothing sheet masks, for delicate and sensitive skin. They should be free of ingredients such as alcohol, fragrances, silicones and mineral oils. Among the most important elements are extracts of chamomile, rice or oats, but also botanical extracts of chamomile, witch hazel, calendula and cornflower, decongestant and calming.

Usually all the serum is deposited at the bottom of the face mask packs. Even the fabric must settle on the bottom, so as to impregnate well! We then shake the envelope still closed, so that the soaked mask and is ready to give us all of its active ingredients.

We take the mask out of its packaging and spread it on the face, having the foresight to do so adhere well in all areas of the face. The fabric masks are already shaped and equipped with holes for the eyes and the mouth and nostrils, so as to facilitate the task.

We keep the mask posing for at least 15-20 minutes, or at least as long as it still feels very moist and soft on the skin. The heat naturally released by the skin and the occlusive effect (o patch) provided by the fabric on the skin allow the active ingredients to penetrate better, for an astonishing result once the mask has been removed.

Let’s gently peel off the mask and throw it away. Remember that cellulose masks can be thrown in organic waste! We massage the excess serum into the skin and do not rinse.

Sheet masks can also be applied 2-3 times a week, or at least whenever the need arises. The type of masks can also be varied, alternating purifying, moisturizing and illuminating masks, depending on the needs of the skin.
